What is it about your house that makes it a home?
I just adore walking through a home and seeing photos everywhere - whether it be sitting on a mantelpiece, standing on a bedside table or hanging all over the walls.
There is such an assortment of homes these days, they can vary from the gorgeous old Queenslanders to the new and Modern, they all have a look, a style and a feel – eclectic, cozy, sleek or sophisticated. However the one thing that remains the same is the power of the portrait.
I met a wonderful lady at an art exhibition recently and we were discussing the power of how just one image can say so much. It could be an old image of your great grandparents at the beach in their full bodied swimwear or family portraits where everyone is so stiff, structured and formal.
Your family’s portraits can be the most beautiful art in your home! Because it tells the story of YOU!
Times have really changed when it comes to family portraits. Gone are the days of hiding your family portraits away in an album that’s never looked at or having one or two outdated family portraits, you know the ones where everyone is standing in a row saying ‘cheese’, sitting dust covered on a shelf. Nowadays we are so proud to hang a series of gorgeous portraits on our walls and add to it as the family grows and changes.
Don’t you love an image that really pulls you in and invites you to share the emotion behind that shot. Just one capture of a new mummy cuddling her tiny newborn baby says it all, amazement, exhaustion and unconditional love. That one image reveals so much.
At Katrina Christ Photographer our idea is to showcase a story of your family, really portraying who you are as a family and how you feel about each other. We always capture the range of different family dynamics, those special snuggly moments with mum or rough and tumble with dad, kids being kids and single portraits that reveal your true personality.
At Katrina Christ Photographer that is what we do!
