We interviewed one of our favourite families about what it means to have PROFESSIONAL family photos taken.

Literally from conception and a beautiful pregnancy to the birth and newness of your baby.

With this massive change in your life which is a change in the family dynamic,Mum or Dad may have finished work to become the full time carer, a precious time in your life which you think you will always remember. Sadly we don't however having wonderful portraits brings all this memories back.

We love this gorgeous photo of these two brothers, taken by our photographer Rachel.  Not only does it speak of brotherhood and fraternal  love, it also captures the unique personalities of the two boys.  Mum was definitely in love with this one – it has made a stunning brushed metallic for dad’s birthday and we think he’ll love it too!

A photo is a moment in time and this photo depicts just that – I just love the story behind it.

The Ellvesen family welcomed little Kai (only six days old at the photo shoot) to the world whilst they were in the midst of renovating their family home. It was such a great day, watching his older sisters Xylia, Lilith & Anya cuddle and fuss over their tiny new brother.

When I was photographing the above shot we were discussing dad’s dirty hands - how he had been doing some work that morning and had tried to wash of the black marks off but to no avail.

Sometimes we all look for perfection in our lives and as ...

It was a chilly day but we all rugged up well for this lifestyle shoot in the park.  I love this image – of course because of the baby teeth peeking through but also for the beaming, happy, baby face! Nothing better than capturing gorgeous, timeless smiles!  X Donna

Katrina's Top 3 Tips in finding the best Family Photographer for YOUR family

1) Google Professional Portrait Photographer and choose 3 from the 1st page

2) Have a thorough look throughout their galleries and choose a style of Photography you love. See if they have won any awards, and choose an accredited photographer or one that is part of the AIPP.

3)Call the Photographer and ask for more information. You will always get a feel for someone at the end of the phone, much better than email. It is so important that you connect with them and you feel you can trust them and they understand what YOU want.

Ask what clothing they would recommend , the location , price list AND their ...

It was a fantastic opportunity for KCP Melbourne to photograph this brand new mum with her 2 week old baby Jack.  Sleepy Jack was an absolute gem letting us steal some of his day to capture him wrapped up in mum’s arms. Only for a short time did he open up his big beautiful eyes and have a glimpse of what was going on around him. Not fussed with the commotion, he quickly slipped back into his baby slumber. Oh the life of a baby!  x Rachel

Maternity Lifestyle Shoot - Brisbane and Gold Coast

Lyndon & Abby came all the way from the Gold Coast to our studio for their maternity shoot.

Usually when we do studio shoots we photograph in our signature style inside.. this time Sarah thought she would evoke her creativeness and take the gorgeous couple outside for a few shots using the studio and the Brisbane streets as the backdrop.

In all the blissfulness of this beautiful couple cuddling,  ....Sarah stood in dog poo!! (yuk) She couldn’t hide the fact (and smell) so bravely told everyone, wipe it off her boot and continued shooting.  Sarah captured the moment when a big breeze came and the smell woofed into Lyndon & Abby’s direction, check out frame two. We put ...

I wonder what's behind these eyes?

Photographing children at this stage is so refreshing...they say exactly what they are thinking and ask so many wonderful questions about the world.  At KCP Melbourne we love getting to know our clients (big and small!) and capturing the best of who they are!

“The Clarke family is so excited to be walking for our beautiful girl Dulcie on September 2nd. Most of you know that at 33 weeks gestation Dulcie was diagnosed with autosomal recessive polycystic kidney disease. Not only is the disease rare, the prognosis for sufferers is grim. We were devastated to be told that it was very likely that we may only have hours, at most days, to enjoy with our little girl. Needless to say, it is a miracle that she is now 6 weeks old and while the future for her is uncertain it holds much more hope than ever before. We are approaching each day with as much gratitude and positivity as possible so ...
