Melbourne studio portraits - Stella at 6 months.

I was very happy to be able to sneak in a few cuddles with the delightful Miss Stella when she was here at our Hawthorn photography studio, helping her mum and dad select their favourite images for their collection.

Stella, pictured here at 6 months old, was photographed by our wonderful team photographer Becky. Becky covered our classic black and white Signature range with Stella’a family, as well our our gorgeous colour Lifestyle range. This shot is my absolute fave!

Stella’s mum and dad selected a beautiful 20” x 30“ piece for their wall, presented in a clean, modern white box frame. They also have a lovely mix of their favourites images as 8x12” photographs to compliment their feature piece.

Baby Photography Melbourne - Seriously Squishable Cheeks!

No matter how many amazing images I see week in and week out, I cannot go past these absolutely classic baby shots. Big gummy grins, a cheeky glimmer in the eye and deliciously squishable cheeks!

Meet little James, the first little darling baby boy for Shantell and Hayden. Shantell proudly told us of James being a beautifully placid baby, always more than happy to sneek in a cuddle with anyone and everyone.

Shantell and Hayden were spoilt for choice with their images, selecting a beautiful range of archival prints for their collection. They came to Katrina Christ Photographer primarily for a beautiful family portrait, and that’s exactly what they got. Shantell says she was “really impressed” when she saw her images for the very first time. She describes her experience with our photographic team as really relaxed and one that gave her and her family plenty of time to play around and experiment with all sorts of different images – stunning portraits of all three family members and some uber-cute nudie shots of James just like this one!

White Shirt Day - KCP supporting our community

As you’d know, we're very passionate about connecting with the community and only too happy to jump behind a good cause when we see one. Recently, we supported The McAuley Foundation, Kidney Health Australia and HRAFF to name just a few. So you can only imagine how happy we were to learn about the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation’s “White Shirt Day” today, May 1st.

For anyone who’s had a photo shoot with us, you’ll be aware that for our beautiful black and white images we recommend that our families wear white shirts. We love to focus on faces, character and relationships so we find that when people wear white shirts it gives their beautiful faces room to shine, with no distraction.

Often, I have clients asking me to recommend where to get a lovely white shirt. Make your first stop Witchery, who have shown amazing philanthorpy by donating 100% of all proceeds from their limited edition white shirts to the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation. WOW.

Hawthorn family photography - Being connected

We dedicate so much of our lives these days to being connected. Connected online, connected at work, connected to whatever is the newest, fastest and greatest. But while all of those things are fun, this photo represents the most important connection of all; connection to our family.

We were so pleased to have met the beautiful Ferris family many years ago. We have been very privileged to photograph them now on three occasions, first when Luca was a cheeky toddler and when Nicole was pregnant with Sylvie. The Ferris family, who live local to our studio in Hawthorn, obviously have an amazing connection with one another. We look forward to seeing them all again in the future.

With Easter on our doorstep this weekend, it's another significant time of year - along with Christmas - that we all look forward to spending time with our family. Well, maybe some of us more than others!

The Ryan family is one that comes to my mind when I think of a family that gets along famously and are a delight to be around. In fact, Katrina Christ Photographer has welcomed the Ryans into our Melbourne studio on several of occasions and just as was the case previously, it was so nice to see them and their children for an update of their family photographs.

The first time we photographed the three cheeky monkeys above, Travis (left) was 4 years old, Brodie (centre) was only 2, and Lachlan was literally a babe in arms at just two weeks of age. Wow, how time flies! And we are thrilled that we've been able to photograph the siblings together to mark the occasion (one of many) of a missing tooth!

I love it when parents come to us wanting a portrait of their children that is a bit left-of-centre. Our client Kim wanted exactly that when she had her sons, Joshua and Lachlan photographed by our Hawthorn studio photographer, Becky recently. In fact, when the boys were younger, Kim had an artist paint a portrait (again of the boys feet, this time on a scooter and a skateboard.) This image, presented an awesome canvas feature will compliment this perfectly and shows how important music is to her boys at this time in their life.

Kim also helped us create an amazing black and white Signature series of framed photographs for her home, which perfectly captures the gorgeous relationship that her, her husband and her two boys share.

I know that this portrait of her children will be one that all of us at Katrina Christ Photographer won't want to part with when it comes in to our studio! Don't worry Kim, we will be as equally excited to see you collect it and have it to enjoy on your walls at home. Nami xxx

Melbourne newborn shoot for Ruby

This is one gorgeous bubba who will be very spoilt and well looked after by her two big brothers. At just 5 weeks old, this was the first professional photo shoot for newborn baby Ruby, who is very relaxed and content here in her dads arms. Who can blame her? The recent heatwave here in Melbourne has had all of us a bit exhausted and the day for Ruby's family photo shoot was no different; thank you Rosalind for braving such a hot day to get the beautiful images of your children! We love these images that our Hawthorn studio photographer Rachel captured in our classic black and white Signature range.

We must also say a big congratulations to mum Rosalind and dad Ronny on the birth of their daughter Ruby. She is such a gorgeous baby and we can't wait to see her again soon (with her big brothers too!). xxx

I couldn't resist! This photograph was only taken last week, but there is no way I could wait for Easter to share it with you!

This chunky little bub certainly won't be needing any extra calories this Easter, and it may be a tad early for her to be introduced to the joys of chocolate. The gorgeous baby pictured above is in fact my daughter Dulcie, who sat very patiently for our Melbourne studio portrait photographer Rachel, while her older brother Mannus could simply not take his eyes of the Easter egg props that we have purchased for the shoot, and refused for the most part to particiapate! At three years of age, can you blame him for being more interested in the chocolate loot than the cute little bunny ears (and tail) and sitting still for his portrait?
