  • Portraits - not just paper......

This was sent to me by a professional photographer friend of mine, which was sent from a professional photographer in the States

    It is just heart wrenching.

Some of you will know my husband Andy was diagnosed with a brain tumor last April. It has been a challenging last year, however, we knew right from the start it was  operable and more than likely benign.

This story is too sad and my heart goes out to all families who have suffered such loss.

We are so lucky. xx katrina , my advice , take lots of photos.....

Whether its on your phone, your little instamaic or proffessionally.

A letter on my door step. portraits are more than paper.

There will be no portrait photos in this post.  This letter wasn’t mailed – it was at my doorstep when I got home a couple months ago.  I read it, I cried, and read it again – probably a hundred times by now.  It wasn’t easy to read – and honestly, as much as it validates what I do for a living – I wasn’t sure I was going to share it either.  If you choose to read through the letter, you will know why I’ve finally chosen to share it.

    Jeanine -

Today I am writing for a couple of reasons.  I have some quiet time at the moment and need to get a couple of things off my mind.  I will leave this for my husband to deliver to you when he is ready.

You photographed my wedding, you photographed my first pregnancy and my first baby.  I contacted you awhile back to photograph my 2nd child and family.  After getting prices and realizing I would want all of the pictures as we love your work – I decided against spending $500+ – which is what I normally spend for portraits and prints with you..  Please know it is not because I don’t value your amazing eye, or how much we love the experience.

That week that I decided to NOT do a session with you, this is how I spent some money.

On Sunday I called and cancelled our session.  Monday I went out and got my hair cut ($39+tip), and colored ($65), Thursday I had my nails done ($24), my family went out to dinner at a somewhat expensive restaurant for no particular reason costing us $79 + tip.  This was just 4 days since canceling our session, already totaling over $200 for un necessary things.  My nails only lasted about 2 weeks, my hair is gone, and seven weeks passed when I got the phone call from our doctor.  It was not something I expected and the cancer has spread very quickly.  I will be leaving my husband, my 6 year old girl and my now 2 year old – not by choice.  It is very hard for me to talk about it which is why I need to write you.

I watch your Facebook page and your posts about the value of a photo and if I could give back all of those things that I purchased this few weeks after I cancelled my session with you, knowing what I know now, and have that session, well… I would do it in a heartbeat.

Now my time is done and there are no more chances for me.  The next time someone cancels a session – my wish is that you forward this letter to them.  Time is fragile, it is gone before you know you had it.  If you charged $200 for one print it wouldn’t be enough for what it is actually worth.  I cringe to think that my priorities were a manicure over a memory to pass onto my babies and husband.

My love and thanks for what you have given us from past photos.  I am so sorry that I did not see it as more than paper until now.

  • Family Portrait Photography Sydney - Look at those Eyes!

black and white Portrait Photography Sydney by Katrina Christ Photographer

I love this portrait! Look at those beautiful big eyes! Little Isac couldn't take is eyes off the camera, which was an absolute delight for me.

I took this gorgeous photo when the boys wanted a cuddle from Dad, Isac and his older brother Marcus were having a cuddle, when I called his name and without hesitation he turned to look at the camera. What a beautiful expression I saw in his eyes and couldn't resist....Thank you to the Barrett family, I had such fun capturing your beautiful boy's on camera.

  • Baby Photography Sydney - Noah & Talia

Baby Photography Sydney Katrina Christ Photographer

WOW, what a welcome by a gorgeous little boy called Noah at the front door! He was so excited about showing me his new little baby sister Talia! I had never seen such love and excitement from one so young. Right from the beginning of the photography shoot, it was all about Talia and how much he cared for her. He hardly left her side for the whole shoot. Just looking at this gorgeous portrait of baby Talia, it is totally understandable why Noah is so captivated by his new little sister.

Talia is so lucky to have an older brother who will always think the world of his little sister and look out for her ..

I loved photographing this sweet two, thank you so much for choosing us to do your family portraits. xxx Joy xxx

It reminded me of how lucky Talia and I are to have an older brother, who will always think the world of their little sister!! x

  • Family Photography Sydney - Lifestyle Photos

Family Photography Sydney Katrina Christ Photographer

I know the Hamilton family, as Valerie is one of our alliances in Sydney, she teaches a wonderful pre-natal yoga class to expecting mum's! We had such fun including all the ''other" family members (their beautiful kitty and doggy). At the very end of the shoot we all thought it would be fun to pile on the trampoline and take a final family photo (before the rain started!) Everyone jumped on and we all ended up having a fantastic time bouncing around and taking photos!

    Thanks so much Valerie

  • Sydney Portrait Photographer Joy!

     Family Photographer in Sydney

You may all know me, I have been working with Bec for the last year.

Whilst Bec has gone off in a different direction, I am continuing to work for Katrina Christ Photographer as the main photographer.

In fact Katrina and I have revised what we are offering in Sydney and we hope that you will LOVE this idea.

I will drive to your home as usual to do your portrait shoot, and once I have edited and proofed them I will return to do your viewing and ordering session in your home with you.

I will be able to bring samples with me so we can go through a range of products and design something that will look amazing in your home.

This may incur a travel fee depending on where you live.

Once you have placed your order they will be delivered to your door within 3-4 weeks.

It is a very unique and exciting concept , we all lead such busy lives these days and we do recognise how hard it is to fit everything in.

So I hope you do appreciate and love this idea!!

I am so excited at this opportunity and really look forward to photographing your family.

    Joy

  • Gone but not really !!!!!

Well last friday the 6th of December was the day we closed the studios doors in Willougby Sydney.

It has been an amazing past 3 years, and so while we will not have a physical presence in Sydney anymore per se, we will still be present.

What we have decided to do, is to continue to photograph all you gorgeous Sydney families.

The only difference now is that instead of you coming into our studio to view your images you will visit our website and view them on our online gallery and choose from there. One of our design consultants will guide you through and still be able to offer ideas and designs.

This is quite a unique idea and I am very excited.

My main reason for this is so that you can continue to add to your collection.

As soon as I have more information I will let you know.

  • The Beatton family love Katrina Christ Photographer...

One of our clients recently posted a beautiful blog about us! We were so excited about it that we wanted to post it on our blog for all to see. We photographed the Beatton family not long ago and fell in love with Amelia & little Jonah. When Kristy Beatton came to view the photos, her sister Amanda came with her to help make the important decisions, as hubby couldn't make it. They all loved their photos and the whole experience so much that Amanda decided to blog about it!! Amanda is a talented graphic designer and loves to blog about all kinds of products and services around Australia. Please visit her blog at www.calicoandco.blogspot.com and get lost in all her beautiful work, it is truly amazing. Thank you Amanda and the Beatton family for sharing your experience with the world and opening your hearts and thoughts to everyone.
