  • Brisbane Family Photographer - "..we love & adore our beautiful photos"

    Family Portraits Brisbane Photography

    Hi Katrina,

I can’t say how much we love and adore our beautiful photos.  Thanks for capturing the essence of our family and the personality of our children.

The whole shoot and presentation was so easy the hardest thing is picking the photos.  It is hard not to want them all. I think I bought most of them.

You work with a lovely team, everyone is extremely helpful and accommodating.  A big special thanks to Larnie she definitely has an eagle eye for the right shot and time and is simply brilliant with a young family.

Thanks for the my photos gift and the other goodies.

We wish you and the team a safe and happy Christmas, may you in the New Year continue to capture people lives in the joy of a simple image.

    Merry Christmas

    Helen, Jason, Ryan and Abbie

  • Portraits are more than paper !!!!

This was sent to me by a professional photographer friend of mine, which was sent from a professional photographer in the States

    It is just heart wrenching.

Some of you will know my husband Andy was diagnosed with a brain tumor last April. It has been a challenging last year, however, we knew right from the start it was  operable and more than likely benign.

This story is too sad and my heart goes out to all families who have suffered such loss.

We are so lucky. xx katrina , my advice , take lots of photos.....

Whether its on your phone, your little instamaic or proffessionally.

A letter on my door step. portraits are more than paper.

There will be no portrait photos in this post.  This letter wasn’t mailed – it was at my doorstep when I got home a couple months ago.  I read it, I cried, and read it again – probably a hundred times by now.  It wasn’t easy to read – and honestly, as much as it validates what I do for a living – I wasn’t sure I was going to share it either.  If you choose to read through the letter, you will know why I’ve finally chosen to share it.

    July 2nd, 2011

    Jeanine -

Today I am writing for a couple of reasons.  I have some quiet time at the moment and need to get a couple of things off my mind.  I will leave this for my husband to deliver to you when he is ready.

You photographed my wedding, you photographed my first pregnancy and my first baby.  I contacted you awhile back to photograph my 2nd child and family.  After getting prices and realizing I would want all of the pictures as we love your work – I decided against spending $500+ – which is what I normally spend for portraits and prints with you..  Please know it is not because I don’t value your amazing eye, or how much we love the experience.

That week that I decided to NOT do a session with you, this is how I spent some money.

On Sunday I called and cancelled our session.  Monday I went out and got my hair cut ($39+tip), and colored ($65), Thursday I had my nails done ($24), my family went out to dinner at a somewhat expensive restaurant for no particular reason costing us $79 + tip.  This was just 4 days since canceling our session, already totaling over $200 for un necessary things.  My nails only lasted about 2 weeks, my hair is gone, and seven weeks passed when I got the phone call from our doctor.  It was not something I expected and the cancer has spread very quickly.  I will be leaving my husband, my 6 year old girl and my now 2 year old – not by choice.  It is very hard for me to talk about it which is why I need to write you.

I watch your Facebook page and your posts about the value of a photo and if I could give back all of those things that I purchased this few weeks after I cancelled my session with you, knowing what I know now, and have that session, well… I would do it in a heartbeat.

Now my time is done and there are no more chances for me.  The next time someone cancels a session – my wish is that you forward this letter to them.  Time is fragile, it is gone before you know you had it.  If you charged $200 for one print it wouldn’t be enough for what it is actually worth.  I cringe to think that my priorities were a manicure over a memory to pass onto my babies and husband.

My love and thanks for what you have given us from past photos.  I am so sorry that I did not see it as more than paper until now.

    Karen L.

  • Brisbane Family Portraits - What a Star!

    Katrina Christ Photographer

Checkout our amazing long-term client!  I have been photographing their family for past 3-4 years every year at Christmas time.   They come home from china to visit their family back here in Australia & I have the privilege of doing their updated family portraits. I have watched the kids grow from being little cheeky toddlers to now just as cheeky but older ... On the recent visit to Australia Natalie mentioned to me that Louis, her 8 year old has just started modelling for a few different agency over in China.  One of his latest photo shoots was for Giordano (OMG!).  She sent me a few pictures from the latest campaign he did, how amazing does he look next to the spunky Australian Brad Pitt in the making I think?  Congratulations Louis you rock!

  • Be part of Katrina Christ Family Cook Book

    Katrina Christ Photographer

I had this really cool idea over the Christmas Holidays!!

Some of you know I don’t cook, however I need to stop making this as an excuse not to give my husband a break!
I need quick easy meals that are super healthy and super yummy that the kids (and we adults) will love.

Recipes that the kids can help with, maybe even low GI recipes.

I am sure most of you are super mums who manage this easily and love it.
I really struggle and I don't love it.

    So here’s my idea...

I would love if you could all email through your favourite tried and true dinner recipes by the 20/1/2012. We will then go through them to create a range of 50 different healthy and exciting meals.

Then we would come to your home to photograph you all cooking this masterpiece to go into a book.

So each family would get a double page spread – photos one side – recipe on the other. We would love if there was a story to go with the recipe eg. Inherited from grandma.

                                                                     My aim is to

    a)      Help each other

    b)      Include the children

    c)       A fun thing to do as a family

    d)      Encourage healthy eating

    e)      End up with a gorgeous personal cookbook of yummy dinners from Brisbane  families.          (approx cost of book $60,  yet to be finalised once quotes are in.)

P.S. Recipe must be original, not a direct copy from any cookbook.

P.P.S. As you can appreciate we will need to limit how far we drive for this, and there will
               be a $55 participation fee.

We will be donating a % to Act For Kids (the main charity that we support)

    Much love and happy 2012

Katrina and her amazing Team xxx
