This is a feel good story about a family who wanted to capture their family as there were some health challenges ahead for them.

Daughter Samantha, wanted everyone to wear white bonds singlet as her Dad has worn them all his life. So the significance of the singlets is even more special.

This is such a cool shot of boys -> men. It came about because one of little boys was a bit shy, so our photographer wanted to try something to relax him and get him involved.

We are so pleased to say that everyone is healthy and well and thankyou to the “Sleep Family” for choosing us to photograph them.

We all love our new art work!!  Even dad who was noticeably absent from this our second photo shoot and who is still getting over it I might add !!

Personally I wanted to try and capture on film the warmth and love that is shared when we all 3 girls snuggle up in bed.  How wonderful it feels to take some time to snuggle and enjoy a yummy hot chocolate. 

I am sincerely grateful to the team at Katrina Christ Photographer for working with us in our home early one morning in May so we could capture this moment in time.

The Story in the Tea Cup:  My girls always enjoy choosing a special tea cup to have their hot chocolate from, depending upon their mood and the time of day they may choose their favorite colour or another shade that takes their fancy at the time.   

These pretty tea cups are special to me as they were a gift from their Granny Barbara.  In this busy crazy world it is nice to stop and take time to sip a hot chocolate talk, giggle and relax.  Perhaps a tradition is forming ??? I hope so, it feels good.

We first worked with Katrina Christ back in 2007 when we moved into our home at Scarborough.  Steve and I wanted to capture the family on film and lock in a moment in time of what ages our girls were, one delightful pre-teenager and the other a cute giggly 3 year old.  Jonsey our late sausage dog was also captured on film and now lives on thanks to him being included in our family shoot.  We love the relaxed way that Katrina Christ go about their craft and nothing is ever  too much trouble.  Which is why they were the obvious choice for our next masterpiece !

Now I am fortunate enough to have another wonderful time piece to enjoy.  This latest edition is in the master bedroom behind our bed.  Each time I walk past it I am reminded of the warmth and love shared between us and it is constant reminder of how precious our girls are.  The pre-teen is now a pesky teenager and the cute 3 year old is an energetic Year 1 student. 

How wonderful those pretty tea cups have turned out to be, they are now a fixture for all sorts of occasions, sleep over’s with friends, rough days at school and so on….  With the sharing of a hot chocolate in our special tea cups, the little aches and pains of the growing years are somewhat eased and softened.  

I am currently working on a caption to hang above “The Tea Cups, I think it might say something along the lines of  "and the little one said...." Which is from "There were three in the bed and the little one said....

I truly wanted to capture a mother's day keepsake for my girls and I.  Try  and capture on film that wonderful warm feeling - those rare moments, when you know you don't have to be anywhere else, doing anything else , with anyone else! That it is okay to just cuddle, snuggle and relax with your precious little children and enjoy the moments.

If you have a special tradition you do with your family, we would love to hear about it.

I am sure there are many of us with family overseas, and it is a rare and special time when you finally get together.

Emma Cunningham who runs her business Platinum Financing (1300 792 561) next to our studio, called us to photograph her family. Initially it was about her sons birthday and all her siblings and parents so generational shoot. However her husband mother was also over from Italy.

The series above is a design I did for Flaminia to take home. This is her son and his family, whom she must miss so so much, I really wanted to create something magical for her to take home with her.

My children have been keen hockey players over the last few years, and in fact I joined the Women’s Masters as well.  I had not played in over 20 years and the only pre-requisite, was that I had to be over 35.

East hockey Club has this year a new home!

After many years of using O’Grady Park at Fairfield, a new custom designed turf and club house has been built, at The Clem Jones Centre. 

The main ingredient has been a passion for hockey and bringing a community together. It is a home where families come together, kids practicing on turf or grass, parents coaching, a canteen, juniors playing. In fact the youngest player could be 5 and the oldest over 70.

After growing up on properties, I have never experienced club culture. I have to say I am so excited that my children have this opportunity.  We have, as a family, made wonderful friendships as well as ensuring fun and fitness.  As parents we all share the same goal.

I had donated some framed prints of the image above as a thank you from the club to some of the key families involved in making this happen.  My husband Andy and I are really excited to do our bit. I am coaching one of our children’s teams and Andy is always helping out in some way, whether it be laying turf, running the bar-b-que or organising.

I strongly recommend all to get involved – it’s just so much more fun!

Wow I feel like we are showing yet another dog picture, but honestly how gorgeous is this bubba and his mates?! Don’t you just love the trust involved here. I know photographers who just cringe at the idea of pets, children & photography, we love love it – so much fun!!

As many of you may be aware we are proud to support ACT for Kids (formerly the Abused Child Trust) and the work they do with abused kids and their families all across Queensland.  Every 10 minutes in Australia a child is reported as abused or neglected, and unfortunately ACT for Kids have waiting lists for all their critical services. We are trying to help them reach the goal of employing an additional therapists in each of their centres across the state.  One additional therapist enables them to help approximately 40 more kids each year.

We’re proud to play a vital role in the fight against child abuse and neglect and hope you will too!

A bunch of the girls from Katrina Christ Photographer-Brisbane made their way on down to Melbourne for the APPA (Australian Professional Photographers Association) Awards on the weekend and had an absolutely fabulous time. Some of them even made it on the TV! Check out the link below. It was a great opportunity to meet other professional photographers from around Australia and see their own work and others judged by Master Photographers. After some very anxious moments leading up to the event, we are all so proud of the girls and their wonderful achievements. We had a spattering of medals that included Katrina receiving two silver awards. Alanna received Gold, Silver Distinction and a Silver. Sarah received a Silver Distinction and Silver. Catherine received a Silver Distinction.

After the awards were over, the girls went out to a well deserved night out in Melbourne, with dinner in “Little Italy” on Melbourne’s well renowned Lygon Street. Check out some of the photo’s.

Hi, my name is Mel and I am very excited about joining the amazing team here at Katrina Christ Photographer.

Through my travels overseas, I became fascinated with photography and decided to study my  Diploma of Photoimaging.  During this time, I discovered my passion for photographing children and am now thrilled to be surrounded everyday by gorgeous photos of your children/families. 

My new role here, involves designing stunning stories, with your much loved/favourite images, for your home for you to admire for years to come.  I love meeting new people, especially the amusing little ones, and can’t wait to help you design something amazing for you.

Sarah our fabulous portrait photographer loved photographing Amelie & Jolie in the backyard.  The girls had so much fun running through the sheets mum had washed the night before, then their puppy joined in the craziness. It was hilarious to photograph.

Little Jack and his dog Lizzy have become two little peas in a pod. Jack, at seven months, is having fun exploring the funny characteristics of his 12 year old fluffy friend. We often hear ‘never photograph children and animals’ but you know what, we LOVE it! Truly capturing a friendship like theirs is a challenge we cherish.
